Sisters Across the Sea is an international collaborative art project connecting American artists with young women in Afghanistan through creativity and education.
Afghan students create drawings that express their ideas, emotions, and hopes for the future — in a country where many girls are still denied access to education
These drawings travel across the sea and are interpreted by American artists through sculpture and ceramic forms
The final works are exhibited together — original drawings paired with their sculptural interpretations — celebrating resilience and amplifying unheard voices

Ceramic artist Tracey DeLellis translates the vivid colors, shifting textures, and quiet rhythms of Key West's coastal landscapes into hand-built, high-fired sculpture. Layered glazes in oceanic blues, sandy whites, and weathered grays evoke coral reefs, tidal pools, and eroded stone — forms that feel at once familiar and abstract, grounded in close observation yet shaped by memory and intuition.
Each piece invites slow looking. Subtle cracks, asymmetries, and shifts in tone echo the fragile ecosystems surrounding the island. At once a personal meditation and a community offering, this work encourages viewers to recognize the beauty and vulnerability that coexist along Key West's shores.
